there is your front literally draped right up and down the 95 corridor. and again, it is not moving a whole lot. with the frontal system just hanging out, our fog will stick around here for the next couple of hours. once the sun gets up, that will start to mix up the atmosphere a little bit and this front should finally get a move on and with it moving to the north, we should be in for warmer temperatures today. by warmer, i mean much warmer. how about mid-80s later this afternoon. it will be a very warm, almost humid afternoon around here with expected temperatures in the mid-80s. currently, 71 at reagan national. that is i nice warm start to the day. 60 and being from new york, we are on the mild side. 64 in new york city. rain showers, we're done with those. we have a cool june -- we have a cool down on the seven-day

definitely below speed here and the fog affecting our drive this morning. that's a check of your fox 5 on-timetraffic. on-timetraffic. talking politics now. first of three presidential debates is tonight where president obama and governor mitt romney will stand on the same stage for the first time in eight years. >> now, in the swing state of colorado, the candidates will focus on the economy. melanie alnwick is live at the white house with a preview. >> reporter: more than 50 million people are expected to tune in tonight to witness the verbal sparring. governor rome necessity's message will be that the country cannot afford four more years of the obama administration and its policies. president obama's message will be that the country is far better off than it would have been without his policies and he needs four more years in order to be able to finish the job. now, in denver, colorado, final preparations are under way for that first presidential election debate in colorado. the showdown in denver between the president and governor mitt romney will take place at the

university of denver. now, unlike debates in the past, this one will be a little bit different. it will be a 90-minute debate broken up into six 15-minute discussions as organizers call it. they believe that will help views are got a good understanding of the candidates' views on key issues. there are few undecided voters right now but a strong debate performance can change the direction or pause the moment up of a presidential contest. an old speech of president obama's is now making new rounds on cable network and also on the internet. here is some of what obama had to say. >> look at what happened in new orleans aened along the gulf coast when katrina hit. people ask me whether they thought race was the reason the response was so slow. i said well, no, this

properly report sandusky to police. he is seeking millions of dollars in damages. sandusky was found guilty of 45 counts of child sexual abuse earlier this year. testimony continues today in the trial of pope benedict xvi's former butler. he is charged with aggravated theft. prosecutors say he leaked private documents for a journalist detailing alleged vatican power struggles and corruption. he admits he made photocopies of private correspondence on an office photocopier in plain sight. he says he is innocent of the aggravated theft charge. in the wake of scandal in colombia, there are? you? rules in the secret service handbook. fox news obtained an e-mail stating that moderate amounts of alcohol may be consumed while agents are off duty but alcohol use is protected within 10 hours of reporting for duty. you may recall an inspector general's investigation found six secret service agents brought prostitutes back to their hotel room in colombia back in april. k in april.

everyone at the national zoo has been keeping a very close eye on mei xiang since the loss of her panda cub last month. and now we have some good news to tell you about. zoo keepers say she is getting back to her regular routine. now, over the weekend, she went into her outdoor enclosure. it was the first time mei xiang want out since her cub died. she still spends most of her affects alone in her den but her appetite is improving a portion of the giant panda habitat reopened over the weekend and the zoo hopes to reopen it fully soon. plus ton this incredible story out of massachusetts eye poodle survived an 11-mile drive reaching speeds up to 50 miles per hour stuck in the front grill of a car. the driver hit the dog and didn't realize what had happened until another driver signaled them. the poodle is doing fine but did suffer a concussion out of this. officials are trying to track down the dog's owner. poor dog! >> i know. still an amazing story that i

september. that comes out on friday. we get a report on the services sector. this is the biggest part of the economy. financial services, people would work in the hotel industry, et cetera. so pretty big reports. ahead of that, we are showing some green, like you and me this morning. futures are up but not by too much. >> great minds think alike. well, let's talk about american airlines aing bit here. this news of loose seats on airplanes. this is not good for american airlines business. what is the latest on this this morning. >> it really isn't. they are expecting 11 more jets today on top of 36 that have already been inspected and we've seen six different instances of loose seats. imagine you are going to take the family away for christmas. would you want to book on american? for the past two months, they've been canceling flights. they are bankrupt. they've been in bankruptcy protection since november.

question from this 10-year-old boy. not true. we are subject to some natural disasters. we're somewhat fortunate in that we don't encounter some of the extremes that other parts of the country do. the west coast of the united states as we all know is earthquake prone. the midsection of the country is very prone to tornadoes, tornado alley. but we can have earthquakes as we've learned recently. we can have relatively weak tornadoes usually. hushs im-- hurricanes impact us and like. >> i think the difference is, in the washington area, we don't have unpredictable natural disasters. that is my theory. so in parts of the country, we can't predict tornadoes with more than five or 10 minutes, 15 minutes notice. the earthquakes, of course, cysts are working hard on it

but we haven't uncovered ways to give you a forecast if there will be an earthquake. around here, we can. we-- >> for earthquakes? >> no, around here work he can predict our natural disasters. last year, with we've had hurricane irene. next time you go to visit washington monument, it is close because we have an earthquake here too. we do see plenty of action around here. i think weather-wise, we have much more in the way of extremes than most the country. we can be 105 in the summertime appear zero in the winter. >> which makes predid iing the weather in this region quite interesting. >> makes it fun. >> we are not out of the woods
